Meet the Summer Interns!
Hello everyone! We are so excited to be interning at Rancho Los Cerritos this summer. Even though things are a bit different due to the pandemic, we will make the most out of this experience and try to learn as much as we can during our time here. Below is a quick Q&A to get to know us better!
1. How did you first hear about the Rancho?
T: While attending school at CSULB, I was given the notification that Rancho Los Cerritos was seeking a curatorial intern. After doing some research about the site I decided that the Rancho would be a great place to gain experience for my future goals.
2. What was your first day at the Rancho like?
T: Awesome! A little bit different given that most of my time is spent working remotely, but all of the staff that I have been able to virtually meet have been wonderful.
3. What is one random fact about yourself?
T: My favorite animal is a jellyfish.
4. What are your future career goals?
T: As a recent graduate from CSULB with a BA in Art History, I am looking to pursue a career in the museum world. I’m also interested in the possibility of working abroad.
5. What is the one thing that you want to get out of this internship?
T: To learn as much as possible! Everything that I have learned so far has been amazing, and I’m ready to gain more experience in the museum field.
1. How did you first hear about the Rancho?
M: I first heard about the Rancho a couple of years ago. I would always come here with my siblings and family to walk around and have a great time. Back then, I wasn’t really informed much on its history; thus, would only come to enjoy the nature that surrounds the Rancho.
2.What was your first day at the Rancho like?
M: It was great! I loved seeing all the different rooms in the adobe home and the different types of California native plants! I learned a lot about the history of the site which is something I believe every Long Beach native should be informed on.
3. What is one random fact about yourself?
M: One random fact about myself is that I am a vegetarian (save the animals and the planet!).
4. What are your future career goals?
M: I would love to be able to work in anything that is sustainability and fashion related.
5. What is the one thing that you want to get out of this internship?
M: An in-depth understanding into marketing and to be able to find my creative side and enhance it through marketing materials, advertisements and social media posts that I will be creating for the Rancho (I guess that’s two things!).
A huge thanks to the Getty Marrow Internship Program for providing this opportunity!
