The Rancho is able to transport thousands of people a year on a historic adventure thanks to our volunteers, and there is a place for you to join our family! We are always looking for volunteers for the gardening team, to greet the public, become a docent and give tours of the house and gardens or lead fourth grade field trips to RLC…
Ways to Volunteer

School Field Trip Docents
Thousands of 4th grade students come to RLC on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings throughout the school year for the engaging and interactive Adelante: The People of Rancho Los Cerritos.

Public Hour Volunteers
These volunteers welcome and register visitors, let them know the various ways to see the site, arrange tours for guests, guide visitors around the site and make Museum Shop sales. Volunteer shifts are for the hours we are open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. Hands-on training is provided while you volunteer. Teens are always welcome!

House Docents & Garden Docents
Any person volunteering for Public Hours can take more in-depth Independent House or Garden Docent Training and then lead tours for RLC visitors from near and far.

Gardeners
The historic gardens are a respite and joy to the community thanks to the hard-working gardening volunteers who prune, weed, compost and plant on Monday & Tuesday mornings.

Curatorial Volunteers
Assist our Collections Manager in maintaining, inventorying, transcribing historical documents, and cleaning the historic rooms at Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site on Tuesday mornings from 10 am to noon.
