It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Rancho Los Cerritos! The historic home has been decorated with period-specific materials, from the fresh evergreen garland along the staircase to the gift boxes in the master bedroom and charity baskets in the food storage room.
Our house tours (Wednesdays through Sunday, 1-5pm, free) will expand to include details about how the holidays were celebrated in 19th-century California. What’s more, RLC is hosting a number of special events to help celebrate the season.

Using a wide variety of colorful materials, children can experiment with old-fashioned arts and crafts. This free, drop-in program takes place rain or shine. December’s theme, Gorgeous Green, celebrates the holiday season. Free.

One of RLC’s largest events of the year, the Old Time Christmas Festival is a can’t-miss family event. A number of craft stations allow children to make one-of-a-kind holiday cards, decorations, and ornaments. Live carolers will entertain the guests and a refreshment station will offer coffee, cider, and cookies. Throughout the afternoon, storytellers will regale families with holiday tales, and a piñata in the courtyard will be stuffed with goodies. Santa will be on hand throughout the afternoon.
