Gardening Lecture by Andrew Chaves

Join us for a special California native plant maintenance program co-hosted by Theodore Payne Foundation and Rancho Los Cerritos.

Subjects covered include watering, fertilizing (or not), grooming, mulching, pest management and other aspects of garden maintenance. You’ll also discover how native plants respond to pruning cuts (good and bad), what we trigger with our gardening activities, and how to develop good maintenance goals. Part of the class with be held outdoors; bring your hat and water bottle.

Presentation will be followed by a tour of the Rancho’s grounds.

Parking
The parking lot is located before the main entrance to your right. A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available on site after you drive through the main entrance gates on the left- and right-hand side. We will do our best to ensure everyone with a DP placard gets an accessible spot. If spaces are full you will be able to drop members of your party off at the top of the path and park in the lower lot.

Andrew Chaves is Director of Operations at Theodore Payne Foundation. He is a former education supervisor at The SEA Lab and has led trainings in planting, propagation, and seed collection in its restoration nursery.
