Rancho Los Cerritos is an international site where many cultures converged to create a uniquely Californian experience. From the Indigenous Tongva who first settled this area, to the Spanish Land Grant that created the space for ranching, to the Mexican rule of the Temple Era, and eventual American annexation – the peoples of Ranchos Los Cerritos were shaped by their access to various cultural experiences for centuries. Drawing from the Rancho’s rich Mexican history, we will be presenting Raíces & Música: Musical Roots of Rancho Los Cerritos to highlight and celebrate this heritage.
This fun musical celebration will let guests enjoy dinner, cocktails and live music! The award-winning Mariachi Tesoro, led by Rebecca Gonzales will perform. Gonzales is classically trained in violin and voice, and she was the first female musician in the world to break through the high profile, all-male Mariachi scene starting with her tenure in Los Camperos de Nati Cano.
Proceeds from this premiere event enable Rancho Los Cerritos to preserve the historic adobe, expand exhibits, fund new construction, allow access to archives and the California Research Library, maintain the historic gardens, and provide for educational programming.
