 A rug beater is a housecleaning tool used to get rid of dust and dirt on carpets. This small rug beater is made up of two wires that are shaped as inner and outer hearts. This rug beater is featured in Creating Homes: Women’s Domestic Labor of the 19th and 20th century, an exhibit that highlights various domestic objects in America and how domestic ideology affected various groups of women and girls.
